Public Safety Creates a Safe Environment for Martin Luther King III Event

The Office of Public Safety was essential in creating a safe environment for the Martin Luther King Day Celebration: “Sanctuary in the Storm,” where Martin Luther King III served as guest speaker.

Associate Vice President Ronnell Higgins, New Haven Police Assistant Chief Bert Ettienne.

The work began with Public Safety’s Office of Emergency Management team mapping out a plan to proactively consider all safety concerns —weather, medical personnel, evacuation plans, etc. — that may arise for the event.

The Yale Police and security officers helped create a safe and efficient flow for the more than 2,000 attendees from the Yale and New Haven community.
