IT Service Management: Application Recovery Tiers Training In-Progress

The IT Service Management team has been partnering with Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Security to provide Application Recovery Tiers Training throughout the month of April.

The ITS Disaster Recovery team has recently completed an analysis of all applications and determined the priority order in which they would be recovered in the case of a major outage. This order has been broken up into 7 recovery tiers. Many application SLAs currently list a Recovery Time Objective (RTO) that is now incorrect and will need to be adjusted. Upon completion of this training Service Owners, Offering Managers and Application Owners will be better equipped to update the ServiceNow tool to reflect the new tiering structure and to engage with their stakeholders to communicate DR realities and help with Business Continuity (BC) planning. There is still time to register and attend a training session!  The following ITSM Training opportunities are being provided to assist participants in gaining a clear understanding of the new tiering structure. Additionally, the overview will provide information on recovery sequencing, the interplay between Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC), an overview of ServiceNow Tool changes to support the new tiering structure and finally an overview of Security’s role in application recovery.

Register for one of the remaining ITS Service Management: Application Recovery Tier Training sessions in Yale’s Training Management System (TMS) - login to Yale’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) may be required:

  • Session 5 – Wed 4/19/23 from 10 AM to 11 AM
  • Session 6 – Thurs 4/27/23 from 1 PM to 2 PM
