Event Recap: Unlocking Your Potential – Transitioning from Solo to Leading a Team

On Friday, June 28, our Yale community had the opportunity to participate in the virtual event “Unlocking Your Potential: Transitioning from Solo to Leading a Team.” The event was a resounding success, with excellent attendance and engaging discussions.
Participants joined Yale’s Affinity Groups and the New Haven Hiring Initiative for an interactive panel discussion with Yale staff members who have navigated diverse career pathways to become managers. The panelists included:
- Charmayne Allen, Assistant Director, Student Affairs
- Martha Cedeno-Ross, Police Sergeant, Public Safety
- Tisheena Harris, Director of Finance, Development Office – Business Operations
During the event, attendees learned valuable insights on moving from individual roles to team leadership, an essential skill in our collaborative environment. Virtual events like this are incredibly helpful for our community, providing accessible and practical guidance to foster professional growth and development.
