Strategic Priorities
Economic Impact - No university in America provides a larger voluntary payment to a single city than Yale does to New Haven. From creating jobs to attracting new businesses, Yale is a powerful economic engine for its hometown.
Public Schools and Youth - Each year, Yale welcomes hundreds of New Haven students to campus to take advantage of all the university has to offer. Through generous scholarships and rigorous academic enrichment programs, Yale works closely with local schools to create a culture of college readiness.
Yale Teaching Fellowship - Strong schools are built through partnership and shared commitment. The Yale Teaching Fellowship works alongside New Haven Public Schools, New Haven Promise, and Southern Connecticut State University to train high-quality teachers from diverse backgrounds, address critical shortage areas, and promote long-term retention within the district. Born from the Yale & Slavery Research Project, this fellowship represents Yale’s ongoing commitment to educational equity and supports New Haven Public Schools’ efforts to increase teacher diversity in alignment with Connecticut State Department of Education goals.
Strong Neighborhoods - New Haven is a city of neighborhoods. Yale is proud to play a critical role in several neighborhood revitalization efforts to help make our hometown an even better place to live, work, learn, and visit.
Vibrant Downtown - By supporting small businesses, organizing events, and opening its extensive cultural resources to the public, Yale helps make the Elm City a destination location.
Community Partnerships - Strong communities aren’t built overnight. Each year, many Yale departments and organizations volunteer their services and expertise in partnership with the broader community.
University Properties and Tenant Services - Through thoughtful stewardship, ONHA’s University Properties team manages Yale’s commercial properties, including retail stores, office spaces, and residential units, in New Haven.
