Nonexempt employees must be paid for travel time and on-call time in accordance with Policy 3504 Compensation for Travel Time and On-Call Time. This compensable travel time or on-call time must be reported by the employee or the person responsible for reporting the employee’s time, in the appropriate timekeeping system. This procedure states the steps involved in properly recording compensable travel time and on-call time for the two categories of nonexempt employees: (1) overtime-eligible Managerial and Professional (M&P OTE) employees and (2) all other nonexempt employees.
To be paid for travel time or on-call time, the M&P OTE employee should have an extra compensation entered in Workday to receive their pay. They are both considered one time payment plans in Workday.
All other nonexempt employees include Clerical and Technical (C&T), Yale Police, and Yale Security employees. These employees, or the people responsible for reporting the employees’ time, must:
- Enter the compensable travel time or on-call time on the employee’s Workday Time & Absence timesheet.
For Service and Maintenance (S&M), callback travel time is the appropriate pay code to use in Workday.
