Public Safety

Yale Public Safety is comprised of four key units: Police Department, Security, Emergency Management, and the Systems and Services team. We serve thousands of students, faculty, staff, and visitors covering Yale’s central, medical, west, and athletic campuses.

The Office of Public Safety is located at 25 Science Park.

Emergency Management | 25 Science Park
The Office of Emergency Management helps our community prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies to keep the campus community safe and resilient.

Yale Police | 101 Ashmun Street
The Yale Police Department protects and serves the campus every day. It’s the nation’s oldest campus police department.

Yale Security | 79 Howe Street
Yale security officers patrol campus and provide walking escorts and other protective services for the community.

System and Services | ID Center (Central), 157 Lock Street
Team members manage university security systems which include cameras, Blue Phones, and access control to campus buildings.

As part of our commitment to community transparency, Yale Public Safety publishes its policies, annual Use of Force reports, media releases, and daily crime reports.

The Yale Status Board also contains current and archived Yale Alerts, Timely Warnings, Public Safety Advisories, and other useful information.
