A message from Chief Anthony Campbell
To the Yale Community,
I write to inform you of a serious incident which happened earlier today at 12:38 pm. The New Haven Police Department responded to the area of 664 Winchester Avenue after receiving multiple reports of gunshots. Callers reported that a black BMW SUV, occupied by at least three (3) individuals, fired rounds at a silver Nissan Altima.
Units in the area were informed that a shooting victim from one of the above-mentioned vehicles was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Yale Police Department increased patrols in the Science Park area and are working closely with the NHPD to increase visibility and deter criminal activity.
I am aware that this incident occurred outside of an area that we typically patrol; however, I share this information to keep you informed with accurate and credible information.
