Increased Campus Security

A message from Duane Lovello, Head of Public Safety

December 14, 2025
Dear Yale community members,

We extend our deepest condolences to those affected by the tragic incidents this weekend. Out of an abundance of caution, Yale Public Safety is providing increased, high visibility security coverage on campus throughout the examination period and Chanukah celebrations.

In addition, the university will require card access to enter buildings at most campus locations. Students, faculty, and staff are reminded to carry their university issued ID at all times while on campus.

For added peace of mind, please remember that walking escorts by a uniformed Yale security officer are available 24/7. These can be requested through the LiveSafe app. The LiveSafe app also provides access to other services, including counseling via the “Yale Resources” tab. Yale has many resources in place, including:

Mental Health and Counseling at Yale Health is available for students around the clock. The telephone number is 203-432-0290 during business hours and for urgent concerns after hours.

Yale College Community Care (YC3) is available for drop-in clinical and wellness appointments for Yale College students. Students can sign up directly online.

The Chaplain’s Office (Old Campus, Bingham Hall, Entryway D) is a resource available to all members of our community (203-432-1128).

All Yale employees can access the Optum EAP hotline (866-416-6586) to speak with a licensed clinician. Yale Health members can call Magellan (800-327-9240).

Your safety is Yale Public Safety’s utmost priority.

Best regards,
Duane Lovello, Head of Public Safety
