With the start of the new academic year, it’s time to review and remind ourselves of our commitment as IT employees to the rules that guide the university and apply to both faculty and staff.
The IT Academy resumed its speaker series for FY24 with a Café IT on “IT Early Career Development Experiences” hosted in late July. Look for future speaker series events in IT Update and participate in our survey (further in this message) to share feedback for future IT Learning and Development programming.

Yale IT recently welcomed a new cohort of twenty-two members to its Summer College Internship program. This is the 10th cohort group since the program’s inception in 2014. The program offers college students a paid opportunity to explore careers matching their academic and personal interests. The goal of the program is to offer college students a paid opportunity to explore careers matching their academic and personal interests. Interns and working professionals from various IT functions are matched to collaborate on projects and work side by side through the summer.

Launching LUX – Yale’s Cross-Collection Discovery at Yale
LUX: Collection Discovery—Yale’s new cross-collection search tool—launched internally on May 16, and publicly on June 1. The launch was marked by press events celebrating worldwide online access to more than 17 million items within Yale University’s museums, libraries, and archives.
This 2.5-hour Foundations of Gender & Sexuality webinar will be offered through a hybrid format on Wednesday, July 19, from 9 -11:30 a.m. Those able to attend in person, please join us at 25 Science Park, room 125. An email with more information to follow for those who wish to join remotely.
In June, a new collaboration space opened on the fifth floor of 25 Science Park. The newly launched space offers connection and idea-sharing opportunities, from table tennis and Connect 4 to conversation nooks and cozy seating.
Guided by feedback from staff, the IT Business Office sought to create a welcoming, fun, and useful space for IT practitioners across Yale. In fact, the space was recently enhanced to include an A/V Zoom Room cart with a 75” monitor and an electronic whiteboard.
