Creating a New Protocol (New or 3 Year)

Logging into MAPs

To log into the MAPs application, the user must have the following:

  • A Yale NetID
  • Access to the YALE network (via wireless, direct network connection or via VPN)
  • An internet web browser  (preferred browsers - Safari, Chrome or Firefox)

New Protocol Creation

To create a new protocol, click New IACUC Protocol button on the left sidebar. This will open the first page of the protocol.

You must answer all questions on the first page and click Save to start your protocol and receive a protocol number. You can also click the Continue button to save and proceed through the protocol study forms

Note: In order to save a page, you must have completed all required data field on that page.  Otherwise, the save link will only save the previous completed pages.

Exit Protocol

At any point you can click the Exit located on the top navigation bar to leave the protocol creation pages.  You may return any time later to complete the protocol creation.

3-Year Renewal Creation 

If your protocol is due for a 3-Year Renewal, go to My Inbox tab and click on the protocol name that you want to edit.  If your protocol is not in My Inbox, please contact iacuc@yale.edu.

You will be brought to the Protocol workspace where you can click the Edit IACUC Protocol button located on the left side navigation to begin editing your protocol.

In order to the edit your protocol within your Inbox tab, click on the protocol name.

Accessing the protocol again will start you at the first page. Navigate to whichever page you wish to edit, either by clicking the Continue button or by using the Jump To menu.

This will bring you to the Protocol workspace where you can click the Edit IACUC Protocol button located on the left side navigation to begin editing your protocol.

Submit Protocol

Prior to submitting the protocol, the user should check for errors to ensure the completeness of the protocol.  Click on the Hide/Show Errors button located on the navigation bar.

When the protocol is completed and ready for IACUC Review, the user must submit the protocol. On the Protocol workspace, the user will select the activity.
