Timely Warning-Purse Snatching January 22, 2020

A message from Chief Ronnell A. Higgins

To the Yale Community,

I write to let you know that a purse snatching occurred this morning at approximately 8:30 am in front of 344 Winchester Avenue. A member of the Yale Community reported she was approached by a male and a female in their 20s. The pair exited two separate vehicles and approached the Community member as she was walking on the sidewalk. The male demanded her purse and subsequently snatched it from her. They returned to their vehicles and traveled north on Winchester toward Division Street. The vehicles are described as a black SUV and a silver sedan. No weapons were displayed and no physical injuries were reported. The New Haven police are investigating. The incident was captured on video and this will aid in the investigation of this incident. Anyone who was in the area at this time or who may have information is requested to contact the Yale Police at 203-432-4400 or send a message via LiveSafe.  Additional updates will follow once additional information is learned.
