Workplace Possibilities
Yale has partnered with The Standard to provide the resources employees need to perform their job with the greatest health, productivity and comfort. The Workplace Possibilities Program (WPP) supports employees who have a medical condition that could lead to a disability, and those who are actively engaged in receiving treatment for that condition, as well as individuals who have already filed a disability claim. This program supports individuals with a variety of diagnoses including: musculoskeletal conditions, back conditions, and behavioral (mental) health conditions. The Standard’s Workplace Possibilities Consultant reaches out to the employee to facilitate the process of returning to work, whether it is identifying accommodations needed in a workspace (in partnership with the Office of Institutional Equity and Access) or working with the employee, physician and behavioral health provider on a return to work plan.
WPP provides a consultant, a professional case manager affiliated with The Standard, to assist employees who may be in pain or diagnosed with a condition impacting their ability to work, taking medical leave or having difficulties at work that could be related to a disability. The program’s key objectives include:
- Removing barriers to employees’ comfort, safety and ability to perform their job effectively
- Assessing work stations and implementing accommodations to ensure employees perform their jobs productively and safely
- Assisting employees in resuming job duties after a leave of absence
- Promoting open communication among all parties, including the employee, manager, human resources, medical providers and others
If you are interested in learning more about how this program can support you, please contact the Yale Absence Management team via the Employee Service Center (employee.services@yale.edu) or call 203-432-5552.
The WPP Consultant will only be able work on your request if able to obtain medical information from your provider with your consent via a signed an authorization release form. Relevant medical information is necessary to facilitate the appropriate stay-at-work solution. The WPP Consultant will not share confidential information (such as your diagnosis or treatment) with Yale, but information about work capacity, accommodations and return to work dates.
