New Haven requires most apartment buildings to be licensed by the Livable City Initiative and periodically inspected (New Haven Code of Ordinances Sec. 17-71 et seq). Further information about the Residential Rental Business Licensing program is available on the City of New Haven website. Please note, Owner-occupied building with fewer than three units are exempt from licensure and inspection. You can look for the Status and License number on each property owners listing page.
