Student Packages Update

Important Updates

The Student Package Center at Barnes & Noble will not accept any packages weighing 50 pounds or more. All packages must weigh less than 50 pounds. In addition, no furniture of any kind, including but not limited to, beds, sofas, tables, chairs, or couches/futons will be accepted. Please make other arrangements for any items such as these.

Please expect some delays in processing packages during the first three weeks of the semester due to heavy volumes. The Student Package Center is located downstairs from the main lobby below the staircase.


All packages should be sent with the below guidance:

Barnes & Noble Student Package Center (77 Broadway, lower level)

All Yale Students Living On Campus

Please ship packages 2 days prior to your arrival date. Once packages are received, they will be held for 3 days for pickup and will be returned to sender on the 4th day. If your items were already shipped prior to 2 days of your return day and you are unable to collect the items in the 3-day grace period because you have not yet arrived back on campus, the items will be returned to sender.

New Guidance for Package Labeling

Please address all student packages in the following format:

  • Student Name (the name that is affiliated to your Yale email address and preferred name if it applies and your residential college or old campus hall) This information should be where you are living on campus not the name of the college you are affiliated with.
  • Barnes & Noble Student Package Center
  • 77 Broadway, Lower Level
  • New Haven, CT 06511

Example:
John Doe (Berkley College)
Barnes & Noble Student Package Center
77 Broadway, Lower Level
New Haven, CT 06511

Package pickup hours of operation are as follows:

  • Monday - Saturday – (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
  • Sundays – (12 p.m. – 5 p.m.)

Students will receive an email when your UPS, DHL, USPS, Fed Ex, Amazon, or LaserShip package has been scanned and received at our Student Package Center. Do not come to the package center until you receive a second email letting you know it is “ready for pickup”. Lastly, once you pick up your package, you will receive a final email stating your package has been picked up.

Graduate Students Living On-Campus*

Your packages will be available for pickup at Barnes & Noble – Student Package Center, lower level. Please follow the same address format. Please provide your Yale ID. Face masks are mandatory to be worn upon pickup.

*Living on-campus means residing/living at a Yale affiliated dormitory or housing.

Graduate Students Living Off-Campus**

You must either send the package to your physical address or to your rented PO Box at USPS (Yale Station) - 206 Elm Street. Packages that arrive addressed to 77 Broadway for graduate students living off-campus will be returned to sender.

**Living off-campus means you have your own apartment, and you are not residing/living at a Yale affiliated dormitory or housing.

Student Packages

Friends nor family members cannot sign for other student’s packages unless approved by a manager.

Please take note that the Student Package Center does not accept perishable or food items from (Door Dash, Grubhub, Walmart, Uber Eats, Edible Arrangements, Whole Foods, Peapod, Amazon Fresh, Shoprite at Home, etc.)

We only accept packages from: UPS, DHL, USPS, FEDEX, AMAZON, and LaserShip with scannable tracking numbers.

USPS regular mail (including magazines, bank statements, cards, and letters) is not accepted at the Student Package Center and will be returned to sender. All regular mail without a tracking number should be sent to your PO Box that you rent at (USPS) Yale Station – 206 Elm Street. Apply for a PO Box.

Students may not address their Priority/Certified mail to 77 Broadway nor their affiliated college. All Priority/Certified mail for students must be addressed to the student’s PO Box number, otherwise it will be returned to sender.
