Pierson Sage Garage parking relocation process

A major component of the Upper Science Hill Development is the demolition of Pierson Sage Parking Garage and the construction of a new parking structure that will replace it.

What’s happening, and when?

Pierson-Sage Garage is scheduled to go offline on June 3. To enable this work, Yale Parking will offer everyone with a primary parking assignment in the Pierson Sage garage alternative parking assignment options. Most Pierson Sage parkers will continue parking in the Science Hill area. Although reassignment will begin this winter, parkers will begin parking in their new lot/garage in the spring.

Note: To facilitate this reassignment process, the university has paused all NEW parking assignments and transfer requests in the Science Hill area.

How this impacts you, and what you need to do

Beginning in January, the Parking Office will assign all Pierson Sage parkers into one of three waves based on the frequency they parked in the garage during the fall semester. University years of service will determine the parking priority within each wave.

The first wave of parkers (ADA parkers and those who park most frequently) will receive an email in early February with parking lot/garage relocation options and a deadline for returning their prioritized parking choices. Final relocation assignments will be made based on each individual’s choices and space availability.

The second wave of parkers will then be contacted via email in early March, followed by the third wave in late March. Once all available capacity in the Science Hill area is allocated, all remaining Pierson Sage parkers will be offered a parking assignment in the Science Park Garage.

In early April, parkers will receive their new parking assignment.

We will notify parkers in late April and early May to begin parking in their new lot or garage to ensure a smooth transition to new parking locations before the garage closes in June.

A virtual town hall is being scheduled for mid-January to share updates and answer any questions. Once the date and time are finalized, the details will be posted on the parking website.
