Business Operations

Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall

Business Operations is a network of business and financial professionals who are operationally and strategically organized to support Yale’s mission of teaching, research, and practice. Every unit on campus – schools, colleges, museums, and libraries—has at least one business professional who partners with unit leaders to align resources with program strategy.

The hundreds of women and men who hold these responsibilities report to a unit leader and jointly up to the Assistant Vice President for Business Operations or the Deputy Dean of the Yale School of Medicine. The joint reporting relationships ensure a consistent, high level of professionalism in our planning, management of resources, and internal controls.

As stewards of unit resources, lead administrators and operations managers provide comprehensive information to leadership for decision making and ensure that the management of Yale’s financial resources are utilized efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with university policies and legal standards.
