Aspiring Manager Program

The Program

Are you thinking of becoming a manager, but aren’t certain if it’s the best next step on your journey? At Yale, our employees are our greatest assets, and their development is a top priority. To reinforce this commitment, the University offers the Aspiring Manager program to provide staff an exploration of management at Yale, and the knowledge and resources they need to successfully consider becoming a manager at Yale.

This program, held over three half-day sessions, will help those interested in a management career investigate some of the key requirements and challenges of moving from individual contributor to manager. Through self-study, readings, active homework assignments, videos, in-class discussions, and practice exercises participants will explore the management role.

Aspiring Manager program is more than a training curriculum — it is a chance to discuss and explore what it means to be a manager at Yale with like-minded colleagues. Although this program does not assure participants a future management position, for many it has been a crucial first step to start thinking about management as a career goal.
