Building a strong network is important to your career at Yale. Make time to connect with your colleagues. Here are a few ideas:
Send an electronic Yale greeting card
Make a colleague’s day: say “Happy Birthday”, “Congrats”, “Thank You”, and more. Here’s how to send an electronic Yale greeting card:
- Visit the Yale Greeting Card web page.
- To send your first e-card, you’ll need to create an account by clicking “Join NotesPlus” in the right corner of the screen. Then, click on the confirmation e-mail that is sent to your inbox.
- To create a card: select an image, type a note and the recipient’s e-mail address, and press “send.”
Tip: Click on “Notebook” in the upper left corner to keep track of the cards that you’ve sent, received, and archived.

Join an affinity group
Yale affinity groups are a great way to connect with colleagues. Yale’s special interest groups host social events, career building workshops, volunteer activities, and speaker series, to name a few.
Volunteer for your department’s green team to get to know others who you may not work directly with every day. Other opportunities include helping to host a department-wide United Way fundraising activity or getting involved with a university-wide event such as commencement–to name just a few.
