Current workplace and pay policies responsive to COVID-19 extended through May 31

To: Yale Staff

Dear colleagues,

I write to inform you that the workplace guidance in response to COVID-19 will be extended through the end of May. Upholding its commitment to our community, the University will continue to provide full pay and benefits to staff members through May 31. Additionally, the University will not charge parking fees for May and will continue to provide free parking to any employee who is asked to work on campus.

As President Salovey stated in his message to campus yesterday, the provost has assigned teams to work on when and how best to return students and staff to campus. We don’t know enough yet to provide exact dates for a full or phased return to campus, but we will keep you informed as we learn more.

In the face of the circumstances that the pandemic has presented, it has been extraordinary to witness staff members’ commitment to supporting the mission of the university. We remain open and functioning as a university, but with classes continuing on-line and much of our work taking place off-site. Our campus has transformed itself from a workplace that is physical to one that works largely remotely, while frontline staff members continue to ensure that our critical functions run and that our campus remains secure.

On behalf of President Salovey and my fellow officers, thank you for your continued support of campus operations and dedication to the university. As we face these unprecedented times together, I encourage you to check the university COVID-19 website regularly for updates and resources to support your health and well-being.

My continued best wishes to you and your loved ones throughout this challenging time.

Janet Lindner
Vice President for Human Resources & Administration
