Adult and Elder Caregiver Services

Yale’s Well-Being benefits provided through Optum offer adult and elder caregiver services and education. Optum’s Emotional Wellbeing Solutions support caregivers with finding services like short- and long-term caregiving, transportation, housing, planning help, support groups and more. Through this benefit, you can receive up to six hours of free help from experienced professionals with any of these areas of care. Specialists are available 24/7 to assist and all calls and use of services are kept confidential. Caregivers can also participate in monthly family caregiving conference calls, where they can ask questions and get answers about caregiving. Visit Optum’s Yale benefits page for additional information. Register by creating an anonymous username to begin browsing resources.

Self-Care for Caregivers

When caring for others it is easy to forget about our own self-care. However, to remain effective in our caregiving, we must also care for ourselves. Being Well at Yale provides useful resources and activities to fill your cup.

Optum Emotional Wellbeing Solutions offers free emotional and mental health support and resources. In addition, licensed clinical counselors are available on the Yale campus for free in-person or virtual counseling sessions. Book an appointment with the on-site counselors, Dr. Amy Sceery, or Rebecca Colasonto, LCSW today.
