The summer buzzed with energy for the New Haven Hiring Initiative (NHHI)! While the days may have flown by, the NHHI was busy strengthening connections and engaging the community around employment opportunities at Yale University.
This season, NHHI partnered with Yale’s Employee Resource Groups to support New Haven’s vibrant summer festival scene.
Across multigenerational events, the initiative’s presence was felt in spaces centered on job opportunities, health awareness, economic empowerment, and family fun.
A major highlight was the distribution of more than 3,500 pieces of NHHI/Yale affinity group swag and school supplies during two key back-to-school events: the Sam Tillery 94.3 Back to School Rally and the Yale University Employee Resource Group Back to School Carnival and Resource Fair. Both events showcased NHHI’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and candidate outreach.
- The Sam Tillery Rally, held in partnership with New Haven Public Schools, served over 2,000 families.
- Yale’s Back to School Carnival at Barnard Environmental Science & Technology School distributed 434 backpacks filled with supplies and welcomed more than 500 attendees.
The NHHI also proudly participated in a wide range of summer gatherings, including:
- Arts & Ideas Community Festivals in West Hills, Fair Haven, and Newhallville
- Phi Beta Sigma Family Health and Wellness Fair
- New Haven Festival de Puertorriqueño
- Delta Free Market
- Juneteenth New Haven Festival
- Black Wall Street
Through these events, the NHHI underscored its dedication to connecting New Haven residents with job opportunities, building stronger community partnerships, and fostering an inclusive and empowering environment. Together, these efforts continue to lay the foundation for a thriving, interconnected community.
