New Haven Promise Internships at Yale: Summer 2026 Recap

August 25, 2026

The 2026 New Haven Promise internship season concluded on August 7 with a celebratory event at Evans Hall at the Yale School of Management. The gathering marked the end of a summer filled with career exploration, impactful projects, and skill development. It also gave interns and managers an opportunity to reflect on and share their experiences.

Through a collaborative effort between New Haven Promise and the New Haven Hiring Initiative, the program partnered with 30 Yale departments and 22 local organizations to place more than 100 interns, including 81 hosted by Yale. The continued growth of the program was made possible through the support of campus and community partners. Internships included both hybrid and on-site placements, exposing students to a variety of professional environments and learning experiences.

Throughout the summer, interns participated in a robust series of professional and personal development Lunch and Learns. Workshop topics included Self-Advocacy in the Workplace, Workplace Culture, LinkedIn Branding, AI in Action, Networking 101, Résumé Development, and Leveraging Your Internship Experience. These sessions provided interns with essential tools to help prepare them for the next steps in their academic and professional journeys.

Interns also made meaningful contributions within their host departments. New Haven Hiring Initiative interns Myla Generette and Lara Medina supported projects within NHHI while gaining broader exposure to Yale Human Resources through career overviews provided by colleagues in Best Practices and Employee Relations. During the summer, they developed their technical proficiency in Excel, strengthened their public-speaking skills, and explored content creation using Canva and Adobe tools. Their culminating project was planning and executing a community-wide National Intern Day celebration on July 30.

The season concluded with final presentations and written evaluations. Managers praised the interns for their professionalism, creativity, and meaningful contributions, while interns consistently highlighted the supportive work environments and valuable learning experiences they encountered.

One of the finale’s highlights was New Haven Promise’s annual PechaKucha competition, during which interns delivered 20-slide presentations with just 20 seconds allotted for each slide.
