Form I-9 Documentation Verification

Yale University partners with Equifax to complete the Form I-9 process using the Equifax I-9 Management system to securely collect and verify employment eligibility information.

Completion of both Section 1 & Section 2 of your Form I-9 is required before your employment start date. Upon hire, you will receive an email from Equifax (noreply@equifax.com) with instructions to begin the I-9 process — please monitor your inbox and take prompt action. New hires must complete Section 2 of the Form I-9 in person at 221 Whitney Avenue. Please schedule an appointment. Be sure to complete Section 1 of the I-9 prior to your scheduled appointment.

You must bring original, unexpired, and printed documents to your appointment. Digital versions or documents displayed on a phone will not be accepted. Please visit the USCIS website for more information and a list of acceptable documents.

Yale participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm your authorization to work in the United States. Learn more about E-Verify.

Form I-9 Remote Verification

The I-9 Center offers the option to complete the Form I-9 remotely for employees who are hired into fully remote positions and reside outside of Connecticut. In these cases, a remote I-9 packet will automatically be initiated via email from noreply@equifax.com, provided the employee’s home address is accurately listed as their work location in Workday.

In certain other situations, remote I-9 completion may also be permitted. To determine if you are eligible, please contact Employee Services at employee.services@yale.edu. Please note – postdoctoral candidates (PDA) and postgraduate candidates (PGA) are not eligible for remote verification unless approved by the Yale Office for Postdoctoral Affairs.
