Shuttles
Windsor Locks (Hartford), CT (52 miles)
Bradley International Airport is marketed as the “no hassle” alternative to the New York City airports. It is served by all major airlines and is reasonably easy to access from New Haven.
How to get to Bradley
- Take the CT Transit New Haven/Hartford Express Bus or the Megabus to Hartford’s Union Station, then take the Bradley Flyer to the airport.
- Take the train. Amtrak from New Haven to Windsor Locks takes approximately one hour and costs $9. For Amtrak information, please call: 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) or book on Egencia.
- Shared ride service- Uber is approximately $70-$77
- Private car service from Bradley to New Haven using Yale’s preferred vendors Premier, Serlin or Hy’s costs approximately $125- $170
- Hertz Car Rental has special one-way rates for Yale from Bradley to New Haven that include no drop charges: prices range from $41.80 (New Haven to Bradley) including taxes and fees; and $71.18 (Bradley to New Haven).
New Haven, CT (5 miles)
Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport is only minutes from campus and served by American Airlines with daily non-stop flights to/from Philadelphia International Airport where travelers can easily connect to destinations around the world. Car rentals and taxi services are available.

Jamaica, NY (80 miles)
John F. Kennedy (JFK) airport is the largest and most heavily used airport in the New York Metro area. It serves international travelers from all over the globe. If you plan to fly at a peak time, particularly at the start of national holidays, you will need extra time to check in. Be aware that because of the volume of people using JFK, immigration controls could delay your travel time.

Flushing, NY (73 Miles)
LaGuardia airport (LGA) flights to cities mainly across the United States as well as Canada and the Caribbean, LGA provides over 1,000 daily takeoffs and landings. The smallest of the New York airports, travelers agree it is fairly quiet and easy to pass through.
How to get to LaGuardia

Newark, NJ (93 Miles)
Newark International Airport is a viable alternative for international travelers visiting Yale. Peak holiday travel periods are busy so travelers should allow extra time. Amtrak provides rail service to/from Newark Airport (EWR) to New Haven.
How to get to Newark
- Take Metro-North to Grand Central Station, then take the Newark Airport Express bus to the airport.
- Amtrak 800-USA-RAIL (872-7245). AirTrain, a monorail, connects the Newark Airport train station to the airport terminals. When you purchase a train ticket from New Haven (NHV) to the Newark Airport (EWR), the cost of the monorail is included.
Boston, MA (140 miles)
Opinion is divided on Boston Logan International (BOS) airport, but it has been undergoing renovations. Although some people still consider it sprawling and difficult to navigate, others consider it their favorite airport in the United States. Make sure you work out which terminal you need though.
How to get to Logan
- Amtrak - 800-USA-RAIL (872-7245) to Boston’s South Station. At South Station, connect to Logan by way of the MBTA Silver Line.
Providence, RI (96 miles)
Providence’ T.F. Green Airport (PVD) is an attractive alternative to Boston’s Logan International Airport as delays and wait time in this airport are minimal. Car rentals are available for an easy 1.5 hour drive along I-95 south to New Haven.

Harrison, NY (50 miles)
Located about 30 miles north of midtown Manhattan and 50 miles southwest of New Haven, passengers are attracted to Westchester County Airport (HPN) because of its comfort and convenience. Connections at major hubs now make it possible for passengers to access global destinations. Car rentals, taxis, and limos serve HPN.
