How well do you know the Yale campus? Test that knowledge and have some fun during Your Yale’s inaugural scavenger hunt.

Whether you’re a Yale veteran who knows every hidden gem and courtyard, or a newcomer still finding your way around, this scavenger hunt is a great chance to discover (or rediscover) the incredible history, architecture, and spirit that make Yale such a remarkable place to work and study.

Solve as many of these 12 clues as you can, and submit your photos for a chance to win or for department-wide bragging rights. Three lucky winners or teams will be selected to win a prize in a random drawing, so grab your phone, lace up your sneakers, and get exploring.

1. I’m Yale’s tallest building and stand 327.5 feet above sea level.
2. I’m big and red with sharp claws, and I guard the power plant.
3. I stand under the tree of knowledge and in college mythology I’m known as the mother of knowledge.
4. I’m a 570ish year-old book and one of the first manufactured in the West using metal moveable type.
5. I’m made of stone, and you can cross me to get to the other side. I sit on top of the Oyster River.
6. I’m a tree, but my leaves are made of aluminum.
7. I’m the toe that students rub for good luck.
8. Take a photo of yourself with the live mascot Handsome Dan, next to one of the campus Handsome Dan statues, or with a Handsome Dan stuffed toy.
9. Take a selfie (or have someone take a photo for you) with a colleague on Alexander Walk.
10. Take a photo of a stone carving, gargoyle, or grotesque on any building (your choice).
11. Take a selfie or photo of a colleague in front of any outdoor sculpture on campus.
12. Take a photo of your favorite piece of art at the Yale Center for British Art or Yale University Art Gallery.
