Leila Day is a progressive, play-based school where childhood is revered and celebrated, and outdoor learning is emphasized. Our 2.5 acres located in the heart of New Haven’s East Rock neighborhood is filled with joyful adventures, meaningful relationships, and discovery though play. A stable and experienced cadre of teachers plan learning experiences around the needs and interests of the children to encourage curiosity, exploration, and experimentation. Children make discoveries, form ideas, and reach deeper understandings about themselves and their place in the world. For nearly 150 years, Leila Day has fulfilled our mission to meet the needs of working families through our sliding scale tuition. Homemade meals are prepared daily by our chef.
