Managing at Yale programs go virtual in Fall 2020

The Organizational Effectiveness and Staff Development (OESD) team will begin delivering the Managing at Yale program virtually in Fall 2020. Moving to a virtual platform allows OESD to infuse its program with social discovery tools for enhanced learning, with additional possibilities for media, audio, discussion boards, and learning “on the go” capabilities. This move matches the needs of Yale’s flexible workforce, improves learning transfer, increases time efficiency, is cost effective, and is sustainable considering the digitization of materials. Additionally, managers have long been requesting this convenience.

The Managing at Yale program will take university leaders along a nine-month virtual journey of development, beginning with the Managing at Yale Essentials course, followed by Great Manager, and then finishing with Managing for Results. Learning will be both self-paced as well as instructor led. Learning-reinforcement opportunities will follow and allow managers to practice and share knowledge among peers and colleagues.

Managers who have already enrolled for in-class sessions will be transferred to the virtual classes and will be provided with additional information once there are more details to share. As always, OESD will be using TMS to manage the enrollment process. Send questions to learning@yale.edu .

To create an effective team and work culture, it is vital to have a full and consistent understanding of best management practices – whether a manager is new to Yale, recently promoted, or has been in a managerial role for several years. Through the years, Yale managers have received this core foundation through the Managing at Yale program series. This will continue with the transition to a virtual platform and the enhanced learning opportunities that it offers to Yale’s leaders.
