Yale Police Department co-sponsors two coat drives

In December, the Yale Police Department (YPD) helped co-sponsor a coat drive with the Dixwell Community Management Team (DCMT). Over 375 new coats, gloves, hats, and books were donated. Those items were distributed to mostly young children in need throughout the local community. The coat drive coincided with the Women of the Village’s weekly food distribution held at the New Haven Police Department’s substation on Charles Street. Officer Martha Cedeno-Ross helped collect over twenty coats from YPD officers and provided DCMT support and guidance. 

There is a great need in the community, so this month the YPD is partnering with Women of the Village and Stetson Library to collect and distribute more coats. Anyone wanting to donate new coats or make a monetary donation, please contact Andrea Mastracchio at 203 675-9437.
