Linda Lorimer Awards honor two Facilities staff for distinguished service

November 19, 2021

President Peter Salovey and Linda K. Lorimer, former vice president for global and strategic initiatives at Yale and former Yale trustee, honored 62 Yale staff members with the Linda K. Lorimer Award for Distinguished Service in an in-person and live streamed ceremony on November 16. Of the recipients, two were from the Office of Facilities: Sydney Colon, Associate Project Manager; and J. P. Fernandes, Director of Plant Operations and Planning.

Now in its eighth year, the award recognizes staff members who exemplify Yale’s spirit of leadership, innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

This year’s honorees represent nine key initiatives across the University. Some of the honorees did important work responding directly to the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to keep the community focused on safety and health. Other staff members and teams created new ways to work and collaborate despite unprecedented challenges.

In his remarks, Salovey noted that this year, “so many members of the Yale community have gone above and beyond to advance Yale’s mission during these unusual times.
