Finance Culture Survey Q&A - September 2023
September 29, 2023
The Finance SLT received dozens of questions during our most recent culture survey, and Finance leadership has been working to address the themes and provide responses. Each month, we’ll highlight some of the questions and answers. Check out this month’s Q&A.
In Central Finance, we firmly believe in recognizing and inspiring outstanding performance amongst our Finance staff, fostering their professional development, and aligning our organization with our strategic objectives. Promotions play a pivotal role in achieving these goals, and we are delighted to provide you with insights into our promotion process.
Promotions within our department can occur through two primary avenues:
- Promotion in seat: This process involves a formal job evaluation review and typically takes place twice a year (mid-year and year-end) or as part of a re-org at a different time of year. It is triggered by significant changes in the scope and complexity of the job responsibilities.
- Applying for an open higher-level position: We also encourage our Finance staff to explore growth opportunities by applying for higher-level positions that become available within the organization. This will involve participating in the interview process for that position, which can occur at any time throughout the year when we have positions to fill. By leveraging their skills, experience, and aspirations, individuals have the chance to progress in their careers and embrace new challenges. In addition to posting positions in STARS, we regularly share open positions in our Town Hall meetings, so Finance staff are aware of the opportunities currently available in Central Finance.
If you are interested in furthering your career or acquiring new skills, we encourage you to have a career discussion with your manager. They will provide guidance, and support, and help identify the most suitable opportunities for your professional growth within our organization.
We believe in nurturing talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and empowering our employees to reach their full potential. Please don’t hesitate to contact your manager, any SLT member, or your HR business partner if you have any additional questions or require further information.
