Fall Recap
November 29, 2023
As the Fall ends, the New Haven Hiring Initiative is thankful for the individuals and families reached during our Fall outreach! We are also grateful for our partnerships with organizations like IRIS and Higher Heights, where we had successful engagements, this Fall. We met students via career and college fairs at Eli Whitney, Albertus Magnus College, and the Dixwell Q House. We volunteered and donated to seven trunk or treats across New Haven, not only providing sweet treats but information on Yale University hiring and the Employment Readiness Program at the Dixwell Q House. Our outreach this Fall highlights our multi-faceted approach to community outreach.
We have concluded employment readiness sessions four and five. We partnered with the Construction Workforce Initiative 2, where Dominique Baez, Director, discussed the program requirements to enter the Building Trades Training Institute and its related apprenticeships. Our most recent session was Monday, November 20th, hosted by Anthony Cuzzo, Training Supervisor with Yale University Public Safety, and Elias Estabrook with New Haven Works. Cuzzo discussed Yale Security opportunities and the qualifications needed to apply. Estabrook discussed the benefits of being a New Haven Works member, their support of local employers, and how to qualify for their services. The employment readiness sessions underline the importance of connecting individuals with information about available opportunities and the qualifications required.
The New Haven Hiring Initiative looks forward to continuing our ongoing commitment to supporting families and fostering partnerships with local organizations, reflecting a community-centered approach to workforce development.
Join us for our next session Monday, December 4th, 2023, 6pm in collaboration with Yale IT Early Careers at Yale.
Meet representatives from Yale University’s IT Early Careers program. Topics covered: Post graduate Early careers in IT, positions frequently filled, qualifications and the application process. College internships and High school internships in IT.
