Award Recognition Program update

April 30, 2024

The Award and Recognition Committee is excited to delve deeper into our new Award and Recognition Program, which celebrates and honors the contributions of our dedicated staff members. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering a positive work environment where each individual’s efforts are valued and acknowledged.

At the core of this program is the acknowledgement that both the “what” and the “how” of our work are equally significant. Therefore, we aspire to recognize not just the outcomes, but also the journey and behaviors that lead us there.

This program builds upon the strong foundation laid by our previous recognition efforts, including the recognition cards and the first competency card awards presented in December 2023.

The program will consist of two distinct types of awards:

  • Establishing a best practice
  • Preserving and/or disseminating knowledge
  • Enhancing communication or understanding
  • Improving quality and/or productivity
  • Enhancing employee engagement
  • Enhancing accessibility
  • Achieving efficiency; time, effort, savings
  • Commitment and effort above and beyond expectations
  • Demonstration of adaptability/agility.
  • Extent of positive impact (team, department, university-wide etc.)
  • Demonstrates “the how”

The Competency Card Awards: The Competency Card Awards honor five individuals or teams, one for each of our core competencies. These recipients exhibit one or more of the following characteristics:

  • Demonstrates “the how”; and
  • Exemplifies one of central Finance’s core competencies

Recipients of the Competency Card Awards will receive an engraved finance coin and a certificate recognizing their demonstrated commitment to our core competencies.

Awards are presented biannually, during our summer picnic and winter gathering.

In anticipation of the upcoming summer picnic awards, the Recognition Committee will be reviewing recognition cards submitted between December 1, 2023, and April 30, 2024.

Let’s continue to celebrate our achievements and the positive behaviors that get us there. Your active participation will make this program a resounding success.
