Do you recall the sneak peek we shared at the January Finance Town Hall about Finance’s upcoming training initiatives? We’re thrilled to unveil additional details about our comprehensive DiSC three-part training program designed to empower Finance staff.

This training will guide Finance staff through DiSC, a personal assessment tool used by more than one million people every year to help improve teamwork, communication, and productivity in the workplace. These training courses, which will be led by our colleagues in Organizational Effectiveness and Staff Development (OESD), will be tailored to our Finance staff and support two opportunities for improvement surfaced by the culture surveys – 1) accepting and learning from constructive feedback, and 2) engaging respectfully in difficult conversations. The DiSC model and training will help address these opportunities by providing attendees with a common language to understand themselves better and those they interact with—and then apply this knowledge to reduce conflict, give and solicit effective feedback, and strengthen working relationships.

Part 1 Everything DiSC Workplace / Everything DiSC Agile EQ  Utilize DiSC to gain a greater understanding of yourself and others and an appreciation for each person’s different behavioral preferences and tendencies.
Part 2 Everything DiSC Productive Conflict  Leveraging DiSC and emotional intelligence, learn how to read emotional and interpersonal requirements of a situation and respond appropriately. 
Part 3 Giving / Receiving / Requesting Feedback  Learn the importance of feedback and how to more effectively give, solicit, and receive feedback.

Next Steps

Grace Frith will work with your department leaders to schedule the three-part training sessions for all Finance staff. The sessions will run from Spring 2024 through the end of 2024. They will be held in person in a group setting with your team. Once sessions are scheduled, the training will be added to your Workday Learning profile, enabling you to register for them. You must register for the training to access the DiSC tool and take your DiSC assessment in advance of your session.
