Tracey Houston, Director of Strategic Communications.

Tracey Houston has more than two decades of national, regional, and local marketing communications experience.

She was appointed the inaugural Director of Strategic Communications in January 2023. In this role, Houston oversees all internal and external communications, including creating and managing interdepartmental communications, comprehensive communications plans, social media planning and advising, and providing communications support to Public Safety leadership and verticals.

Before joining Yale Public Safety, Houston worked in the Office of Public Affairs as a project manager for the launch of The Tsai Leadership Program, the largest intra-curricular leadership program for Yale Law School. After launch, Houston provided communication and marketing support to the leadership program.

Houston comes to Connecticut from Michigan, where she worked in a communications and marketing capacity for the Office of Retirement Services and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority for the State of Michigan, respectively. She was responsible for managing internal and external communications for agency-wide initiatives and served as agency liaison to the governor of Michigan’s communications office.

She founded Houston & Company LLC, an award-winning full-service marketing and communication firm created to help small and medium-sized companies with marketing and communication needs.

As senior vice president of corporate communications for a national nonprofit, Houston and her team received several regional awards.

In her spare time, Houston can be found mentoring others interested in pursuing careers in the communication industry or providing communication and marketing advice to business owners.
