Perform a wide range of basic and complex acquisitions functions, including technical and administrative support to the selectors, based on established procedures and policies.

Conduct pre-order searches using electronic and paper sources, which may include incomplete or incorrect source materials or information. Verify information on library holdings.

Prepare and place orders. Correspond with vendors and suppliers on basic and non-routine matters.

Maintain standing orders, memberships, and package subscriptions. Ensure that orders and memberships have been activated.

Track orders, maintain files and records. Create provisional records for acquired materials and gifts; check incoming shipments for accuracy and damage. Distribute materials to staff.

Process and approve invoices. Correspond with vendors and publishers to resolve subscription or payment problems. Answer questions from staff regarding invoices, payments, and similar transactions.

Maintain records, databases, and statistics. Prepare reports as needed.

Perform cataloging functions as needed by copy cataloging and/or creating new records for incoming materials. Perform, organize, and coordinate special projects as requested.

Assist users and staff with information on collections and materials.

Train regular, student, and casual workers in their duties. May act as lead person in the absence of the supervisor.

Reading proficiency in one or more languages may be required, depending on assignment.
