Representative duties:

Required knowledge:

  • General knowledge, high school level; detailed but narrow knowledge in one or several work-related areas: general acquaintance with broader fields of knowledge
  • Limited acquaintance with business, accounting, or commercial procedures
  • Limited knowledge of University organizational policies and procedures generally; detailed knowledge of a narrow area of University rules and procedures

Required skills:

  • Copies data from standard or easily understandable formats
  • Routine use of a major library catalogue or reference database
  • Files already labeled material using a straightforward alphabetical, numerical or chronological system
  • Understands more complicated written instructions, memoranda, and policy statements
  • Writes short, informal notes, fills out simple forms
  • Regular, skilled use of more complex machines including word processors or personal computers

Office and administrative skills:

  • Keyboards letters, memos, and other moderately complex material
  • Enters and retrieves data from semi-finished source documents on a personal computer requiring both some interpretation of the source document and a basic understanding of software parameters

Experience, education and formal training:

  • Two years of related work experience and a high school level education, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

Example 1

General purpose:

Provide audio-visual support and services to Yale College and community. Set up and operation of media equipment including video, film, audio equipment, slide & 16mm film projectors, public address systems and computer equipment.

Essential duties:

  • Report to and perform duties as assigned by the Media Services Classroom Manager in support of departmental mission
  • Deliver, set up and operate various media related equipment including video/data, slide, film and overhead projectors
  • Troubleshoot, adjust and perform routine maintenance of video/data projection systems, public address systems, microphones, slide & film projectors
  • Operate studio & field video cameras, and audiocassette recorders for classes and special events
  • Perform administrative functions in Media Services office including scheduling equipment for classes and special events
  • Assist in preparation and development of media material for video, audio, photographic, slides and multimedia applications
  • Oversee and instruct staff and students

Experience and training:

  • Two years of related work experience in instructional media services or education or industry and a high school level education; or an equivalent combination of experience and education

Skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in use and maintenance of media material and audio-visual equipment
  • Excellent customer service practices
  • Must be able to lift 65 lbs.
  • Valid CT Driver’s License
