Winter Recipe Roundup –Yale Hospitality judges pick their favs

January 13, 2021

The Yale Community loves to cook! Over 80 Yale staff, faculty, and graduate students shared their favorite recipes as part of the first Annual Winter Recipe Roundup. Family favorite submissions ranged from Nonna Cecilia’s Manicotti, Gram’s Easy One Pan Meal, to MeeMaw’s Kentucky Red Velvet Cake. Other interesting items included Figgy Pudding, Fried Mush, and Margaritas! One fun non-food submission was Homemade Playdough — great activity for families with children who are learning remotely or to make any day! Vegan dishes included Maple Glazed Pumpkin Scones, and Lentil and Mushroom Loaf. Among the international delights were Pakistani Shrimp Curry, Pastelitos De Guayaba, Puerto Rican Coquito, and Italian Struffilo. Some delicious standards included McDaniel’s Lasagna, Bundt Pan Banana Nut Bread, and Butternut Squash Soup!

Six members of Yale Hospitality, including a breakfast cook, a lunch cook, and a pastry chef, picked their top three favorites. The three winners will receive special Yale-themed prizes. In addition, every cook who submitted a recipe was entered into a random prize drawing. These  winners are: Daphne Klemme, Grandma Cameron’s Macaroni and Cheese; Darlene Smith, Limoncello Cake; and Joy Grabow, Flourless Chocolate Cake.
