CISCO telephone migration successfully completed

August 11, 2021

ITS recently completed an initiative to retire the LLCI Nortel PBX system.

Beginning in March through July, 1400+ Cisco phone systems were installed, replacing all Nortel, Avaya, and Cortelco telephones at the Amistad and Seamco buildings, The Anlyan Center, 2 Church Street South, 100 Church Street South, and 40-60 Temple Street.

This telephone service upgrade was the hard work of team members that resulted in little to no disruption of telephone and voicemail service during the migration.  The team also worked in conjunction with the NGN team on their conversion.

The Cisco phone system offers many new features, including a no-cost “Softphones” service to anyone working remotely – allowing you to use your computer to answer and place calls from your university telephone number. For information on the Cisco phone system, refer to the Telephone Services page.
