Hosted by the IT Staff Development team, Yale’s IT Academy consists of a robust speaker series, recommended online training offerings, and learning events to support the professional growth and staff development of Yale’s IT community.
Developer Lunch and Learn: Accessibility
On Tuesday, January 18, from noon – 1:15 p.m., join the Digital Accessibility team for a session on Accessible Fonts and Typefaces.
Some fonts and typefaces are easier to understand than others. Learn about what makes an accessible typeface, how to identify inaccessible fonts, and how you can improve the legibility and readability of your site for everyone.
Pre-register for the January 18 Lunch and Learn training in Yale’s Training Management System (TMS). Login to Yale’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) may be required. The Zoom link will be emailed to individuals registered for the training session.
FY22 Balanced Scorecard Training (required for ITS staff)
The ITS Balanced Scorecard training (approximately 15 minutes) provides employees with an understanding of ITS strategic initiatives and highlights key areas of focus for the fiscal year. This session includes both insights from our CIO on the Balanced Scorecard as well as an in-depth review of the FY22 goals.
Access the FY22 Balanced Scorecard training through Yale’s Training Management System (TMS). Login to Yale’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) may be required.

Please join Morrow Long for an introduction and comparison between the two OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project) Software Assurance Maturity Models and other software maturity models:
OWASP SAMM 2.0 (2020+)
- The OWASP Software Assurance Maturity Model (SAMM) v2.0 was released in January 2020. A major revamp a decade after OpenSAMM 1.0 came out ten years prior. OWASP had taken over the OpenSAMM project and released minor revisions (1.1 and 1.5).

OWASP DSOMM – the DevSecOps Maturity Model
- Though SAMM 2.0 CAN be used with the Agile development methodology and adapted to DevOps software development, DSOMM is specifically designed for Agile and DevOps.

Michael Vaughn, Associate Director of Digital Accessibility, will give an update on what has been accomplished and what work remains to help assure that technology innovation does not leave some people with disabilities behind.
Learn about the latest trends, including the upcoming 2.2 and 3.0 versions of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and efforts to improve the accessibility of the YaleSites platform.
