New Haven Hiring Initiative - Summer 2022 recap

September 30, 2022

It was a busy summer for the New Haven Hiring Initiative (NHHI). Their community liaison, Fallon Thomas, participated in thirteen local events that brought together multigenerational families around job opportunities, health awareness, economic empowerment, and family fun.

During these events, over one thousand community members engaged around Yale University’s frequently filled jobs, access to STARS, and support from our New Haven Works partners. Also, NHHI staff distributed eight hundred pieces of swag and school supplies during the events.

Many collaborative moments fostered by those events included: tabling with Yale’s Affinity groups, supporting City of New Haven Alder initiatives (Honda Smith, Devin Avshalom-Smith, and Jeanette Morrison), and supporting local churches and community organizations.

On campus, current Yale employees engaged with the NHHI table around the Employee Referral Program, learning about the program’s benefits. Support of these events reinforced NHHI’s community-to-jobs pipeline.
