Business process change: new virtual orientation for J-1 international scholar hires – NetID credentials required as soon as possible

January 18, 2023

Within the next 6 months, the Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS) will implement a new virtual orientation for incoming scholars on a J-1 visa. Currently this orientation is held over Zoom, so this new format will allow for much more flexibility.

The new orientation will be hosted on a YaleSite, so scholars will need to log in with their NetID and password in order to access the course modules. It is vital that incoming international hires are entered into Workday in a timely manner, and that their NetID login credentials are passed along at least 1 month before their start date.

This orientation is required by the United States Department of State and contains important information that is vital to the international visa process and maintaining legal status in the U.S. The NetID and password is also required in order to comply with I-9 requirements.

If you have any questions about the new orientation program, please contact Alina Nevins at alina.nevins@yale.edu.
