Bee SAFE, Not Sorry campaign highlights

June 9, 2023

Thanks to all who participated in the Bee SAFE, Not Sorry awareness campaign in April and May.

The campaign focused on our shared responsibility to report suspicious activity right away to the Information Security Office. As a reminder, If you have any reason to suspect that there has been unauthorized access to High-Risk data, call the Information Security Office hotline immediately at 203-627-4665.

A few highlights – the ISO:

  • Hosted two interactive Kahoot games to build incident reporting know-how.
  • Facilitated the Not If, But When webinar led by Jeremy Rosenberg, chief information security officer. Jeremy shared the most common threats at the university, why reporting unusual activity helps thwart bigger issues and how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the threat landscape.
  • Held the Hear It from The Experts panel discussion with Yale leaders about the time-sensitive nature of reporting incidents. This highlighted that any and all of us can fall victim to cyber-scams. Don’t hesitate to report cyber incidents because you feel embarrassed or at fault.
  • Produced two podcast episodes about reporting: Why Reporting Security Incidents at Yale is Mission-Critical and Time-Sensitive and Why Reporting Suspicious Activity is Everyone’s Responsibility.

Although the campaign has come to a close, the importance of reporting incidents remains. Remember to Bee SAFE, Not Sorry:

S – See something suspicious
A – Act quickly, don’t hesitate to report the concern
F – Follow directions from the Information Security Office (ISO)
E – Exercise discretion and don’t discuss the incident

We appreciate your ongoing efforts to report suspicious activity. Your actions help support the University’s mission.
