ITS names Frank Mathew AVP and Deputy CIO

July 13, 2023

Frank Mathew has been named assistant vice president and deputy chief information officer. This change reflects Frank’s broad community engagement and record of accomplishment in delivering technology solutions, as well as an increasing reliance by leadership on Frank to develop responsive solutions to evolving campus needs, guide key technology initiatives, and innovate operational practices.

Over the last few years, as a senior leader in ITS, Frank has supported university leaders on three of the seven IT governance committees and served on steering committees of multiple technology projects and initiatives. He has led the Enterprise Applications team, which has broadened recently to include data, analytics, staff development, platform support and quality assurance. More recently he has been a significant voice in guiding our strategy on low-code development and application standards and working with the community and the team to evolve our data strategy.

We continue to stress that IT is about people and how they engage, and Frank has built out an extremely capable team by emphasizing growth and development. He has been a champion of ITS’s early career initiatives, co-sponsoring several organizational improvement initiatives with peers across IT, and responding to the evolving needs of our changing workforce.

“Frank continues to have strong insights into how to evolve Yale’s IT strategy and organization in alignment with our institutional vision. This change acknowledges his contribution and clarifies the broadening expectations of his engagement” said John Barden, vice president for IT and chief information officer.

“I am grateful for all my experiences at Yale and honored to be given this opportunity to contribute in this capacity to our organizational goals,” said Frank Mathew.
