On Saturday, September 16, Yale University Public Safety and Bron & Noir Society had their 2nd Annual Connecticut Men of Color Flash Mob on Hillhouse Avenue in New Haven. This awesome annual community event organized by HR’s Denval Lawrence, Bron & Noir Society Founder and Yale HCMS Solutions Architect, unites a diverse group of Connecticut professionals, students, and business owners of color in style to celebrate and honor the excellent contributions they are making to the state via their respective professions, mentorship, community service, and personal endeavors. This event was sponsored and supported by Yale Public Safety, the City of New Haven – Art, Culture and Tourism, Yale University Affinity Groups, Jack’s Steakhouse, 100 Men of Color, Henry Couture Paris, Rich Men Looks, JF Entertainment, Southern Sista’s, and High Rollers Barbershop.

The Flash Mob participants, dressed in the latest suit styles and trends, include Connecticut’s college and university professors, staff, Yale and New Haven police, lawyers, tech and business professionals, entrepreneurs, and artists from around the state.

It was a great event and it certainly demonstrated the power of Yale and its many departments as well as Affinity Groups that look to collaborate with the city of New Haven and many organizations in order to strengthen and uplift the communities around us!

The Connecticut Men of Color Flash Mob’s Afterparty-Networking & Awards Event was hosted at Jack’s Steakhouse. Yale Public Safety’s Captain, Keith Pullen, honored New Haven’s very own Grammy-nominated Rashad Johnson and Aaron Rogers with the “Community Leadership Award” for their outstanding service to the city of New Haven and the state of CT through their work with The Breed Entertainment, The Breed Academy, and The Black Wall Street Festival. Also honored was Yale HR’s very own Ronald Lipkins (Director, HRISS) as he was not only nominated by unanimous cheering (crowd vote) for “Best Dressed” but also won by a standing ovation and cheering crowd against three other well-dressed gentlemen!

Denval Lawrence stated, “It was a great event and it certainly demonstrated the power of Yale and its many departments as well as Affinity Groups that look to collaborate with the city of New Haven and many organizations in order to strengthen and uplift the communities around us!” He looks forward to 2024’s 3rd Annual Connecticut Men of Color Flash Mob.
