HR Celebrates the Soup-er Bowl

February 23, 2024

On February 6, the lower level of 221 Whitney was filled with excitement as the HR-United Way campaign finale fundraising event, Soup-er Bowl, unfolded, benefiting the United Way of Greater New Haven. Organized by a dedicated team including Ashlee Ciliberti, Marinda Monfilston, Pamela Cox, Gae Barbano, Marisa Berti, Lorraine Skibitcky, Devon Riley, and Jessica Barajas, the event was a resounding success, bringing together the HR community for a worthy cause.

A highlight of the evening was the culinary competition, with 16 generous volunteers showcasing their crockpot creations and delectable desserts. Attendees had the delightful task of sampling these dishes and casting their votes for their favorites. The competition was fierce, but ultimately Devon Riley’s Lumpia and Fallon Thomas’s Sweet Potato Cheesecake emerged victorious. Both winners were awarded $25 Grubhub vouchers.

Entrance to the event was granted with a minimum donation of $10, all of which contributed to our fundraising efforts. In addition to the delicious selection of food, attendees had the chance to win exciting prizes. Tyler Thorpe snagged the door prize, United Way swag. Earl McCoy, Jr. claimed victory in the “best sports paraphernalia” contest, also earning some United Way goodies.

Adding to the event’s charm were the winners of the “Get to Know You” Bingo, Diane Chandler and Terry Reese, who each received United Way swag.

The presence of United Way representatives, Jessica Teta and Maria Gomez, lent further significance to the event. They took the time to express their gratitude and highlight the profound impact of our fundraising efforts on the Greater New Haven community.

Through the collective efforts of our organizers, volunteers, and attendees, Soup-er Bowl raised an impressive total of $405, a testament to the generosity and commitment of our HR community.

As the Soup-er Bowl drew to a close, it was evident that not only had appetites been satisfied, but hearts had been warmed by the spirit of giving and camaraderie. Together, we reaffirmed our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those in need.
