Title: Manager’s Series: Understanding Your Team (Session 1 of 3)

Audience: All IT Managers, Associate Directors, and Directors
Description: In recent years, Yale’s IT organization has committed to hiring recent college graduates and early-career professionals. This influx has created a diverse workforce, uniting experienced experts with deep institutional knowledge and eager, motivated early career talent. While this blend offers immense potential, it also calls for additional managerial support to navigate this evolving workforce landscape effectively.

Beginning with the first session on February 29, 2024, from 11 a.m. - noon, Sheena Marcus, Sheena Marcus Leadership & Coaching, will lead a virtual three-session talk series for leaders within Yale IT, tailored to “empower managers with insights for effective leadership and support of early-career professionals.”

This first session will cover “Understanding my Team.” This session will help managers answer, “As a leader, what can I do to elevate how I empower, support, and develop the early career professionals on my team?” Topics covered will include:

• Understanding early career professionals
• Discussing our challenges
• Strategies to support and develop early career professionals

Sheena brings a rich history of experience in leadership coaching. She has worked with Federal and State governments, operations departments (such as HR, Finance, and IT), Medicine and Healthcare, Higher Education, and other non-profit industries. We encourage managers to attend all three sessions in the series to get the most benefits from the training; however, we invite you to join any sessions that suit your schedule - session 1 is not a prerequisite for later sessions in this series.
