Yale Status Board - March enhancements

April 11, 2024

On Wednesday, March 27, the Yale Status Board opened its platform to welcome contributing departments within the Yale community. This latest release allows participating departments to publish their desired real-time updates to the board. As of today, early adopter departments are ready to post their informational updates to the Yale Status Board.

We encourage you to review the early adoption departments and the new features of the Yale Status Board. As described in the January edition of IT Update, the Yale Status Board aims to centralize information published by multiple departments, including Facilities, Public Safety, and others.

Key features and benefits of the dashboard include:

  • Streamlined and enhanced communication: The Yale Status Board overcomes the current system’s limitations by providing an enhanced centralized platform for broadcasting critical messages. This enable us to reach a larger community and ensure that important information regarding events, such as building power outages or public safety alerts, is communicated effectively in real-time.
  • Improved situational awareness: The application consolidates data from various systems and sites, while the dashboard provides an overall view of the operational status of facilities throughout our campuses. This increased situational awareness enables faster decision-making and better coordination during emergencies or campus events.
  • Strengthened safety and security: The Yale Status Board contributes to a safer campus environment with a broader reach and improved communication capabilities for important safety information, such as evacuation procedures or security alerts, enhancing our community’s overall safety and security.
  • Enhanced community satisfaction: Students, faculty, staff, and visitors can access a centralized platform to stay updated on critical events and make informed decisions about their campus activities.

We continue to reach out to departments to garner interest in the Yale Status Board and anticipate more departments to sign up as contributors. We anticipate adding a subscription feature to our next release that would allow anyone in the Yale community to sign up for direct updates or announcements from specific or all departments they are interested in. We expect the next release in June.
