Hosted by the IT Staff Development team, Yale’s IT Academy consists of a robust speaker series, recommended online training offerings, and learning events to support the professional growth and staff development of Yale’s IT community.
FY22 Balanced Scorecard Training
(required for ITS staff)
The ITS Balanced Scorecard training (approximately 15 minutes) provides employees with an understanding of ITS strategic initiatives and highlights key areas of focus for the fiscal year. This session includes both insights from our CIO on the Balanced Scorecard as well as an in-depth review of the FY22 goals.
Access the FY22 Balanced Scorecard training through Yale’s Training Management System (TMS). Login to Yale’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) may be required.
Developer Lunch and Learn: Accessibility
On Tuesday, November 16, from noon - 1:15 p.m., join the Digital Accessibility team for a session on accessible video, sound, and animations. But, is the movement and sound on your website accessible? Learn about the disabilities related to movement, video, and sound. The session also discusses common accessibility challenges, what your videos and animations need to be accessible, and tools to help build accessible videos and animations on your websites.
Pre-register for the November 16 Lunch and Learn training in Yale’s Training Management System (TMS). Login to Yale’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) may be required. The Zoom link will be emailed to individuals registered for the training session.
Microsoft’s FY22 Enterprise Skills Initiative
Participate in Microsoft’s Enterprise Skills Initiative (ESI) and discover training opportunities aligned to your role and level of expertise within the ESI Learner Experience Portal (LxP). Topics covered include:

“Making Connections in MS Power BI” with Francis Garcia, Senior Software Engineer

Please join Francis Garcia, Senior Software Engineer, for a very practical presentation on how to connect MS Power BI to various systems.
Francis will demonstrate various techniques and answer various questions on how to get different types of data into and out of MS Power BI.
Topics will include:
- The three flavors of Power BI (i.e., Desktop, Server, & Service)
- How to connect to various Yale Data Sources (e.g., SQL Server, SSAS, MySQL, etc.)
- How to connect to Oracle Databases
- How to connect to data sources (e.g., xls, csv, etc.) located on SharePoint for use in PBI Service
- Using Grouper Groups to access Power BI Server, Service, and data
Lots of information will be covered; please bring your questions.

The holidays can be a time filled with many emotions, joy, anticipation, excitement – but also stress, financial concerns and for some, loneliness.
In this Café IT, Being Well at Yale Education Specialist and Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Danielle Casioppo, will share valuable tips and strategies from evidence-based resources such as Mental Health First Aid, positive psychology and Yale’s Personal Wellness program. Learn about new resources available to Yale employees and their dependents and how to help someone who may be struggling with a mental health or substance use challenge during the holiday or winter season.
This informational and interactive workshop will leave participants feeling better informed and more confident in how to help themselves, a family member or colleague, through the right approach and knowing what resources are available. This workshop is recommended for: faculty, staff, managers.
