Public Safety Advisory- Armed Robbery on Canner Street August 19,2020

To the Yale Community,

I write to let you know that a robbery occurred late last evening at approximately 11:30 pm on Canner Street between Livingston and Orange Streets. A postdoctoral fellow and a friend were walking in the area when they were approached by an unknown man. The man displayed a small handgun and demanded their belongings. The man fled into a dark-colored vehicle with dark tinted windows that was possibly occupied by another unknown male. The vehicle fled on Canner toward Whitney Avenue. No physical injuries were reported. The New Haven police are investigating. It was reported that just prior to the incident, the man walked past the postdoctoral and the friend with another unknown man on the opposite side of the street prior to approaching them.
