Yale Public Safety offers two free resources for staff through the Central ID Center (57 Lock Street): notary public services and passport photos.

Passport Photos

Applying for or renewing a U.S. passport book or card? Book an appointment at the Central ID Center (57 Lock Street) for a professional-quality passport photo. Two exact-sized passport/ID photos will be ready in minutes and printed in compliance with government regulations.

Notary Public Services

Notary public services are available by appointment to Yale students, staff, and faculty at the Central ID Center. Schedule a session for this service, available Tuesday to Friday, excluding recess and holidays.

Individuals can schedule an appointment to notarize documents, such as citizenship or Visa documents, property deeds, legal affidavits, or proof of identity or travel letters (for minors).

“In the past year, this service has really taken off,” said Stephen Donnelly, manager of the ID and access control center for Yale Public Safety. “In May, our staff notarized almost 90 documents.”

What to bring

  • Bring the entire document, not just the page you need notarized.
  • Do not sign your documents until instructed to do so by the notary.
  • If you have already signed the document, you must print a new copy to be properly (and legally) notarized.
  • A valid, government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, military ID).
